Travertine

Travertine comes from Italian word ‘Travertino’, which means a porous rock.

Travertine is an intermediate form between the limestone and marble. Rich colors, patterns and being naturally picturesque allow the use of travertine in various design solutions and styles both classic and exotic.

If to leave the limestone under a lot of pressure for a considerable time (millennium), it can turn into travertine. If travertine kept under a high pressure for millennia, it can become marble.

One of the most famous examples of the use of travertine is the Coliseum. It was built of marble and travertine.
