Jade, nephrite, green stone- these are some of the names that are used for this semi-precious mineral.
Name of the stone Jade comes from the Spanish words ‘piedra de jada’ – which means that it is able to relieve a back pain. It is compounded of silica and its name was put into a mineralogical practice in 1863.
The mineral is surprisingly durable thanks to the tight coupling of needle-like crystals and radiating aggregates composition. This stone is viscous and solid and also can be easily polished therefore, the stone is considered a jewelry of a high quality.
Emerald color or translucent green are produced by combination of chromium and iron. Apart from green there are also colors such as - semi-white, pink, purple, there are even blue jade.
